Keep Looking Up

Don't you love the times when everything you needed is handed to you and, in a single moment, your whole day is turned around?
The magic is not in the words, or even the beautiful Tenth Avenue North playing in the background, but in the shifting perspective. When you go from looking to your pain and your circumstances and look to God, even if it makes no sense and even if it doesn't get better, you finally see that your suffering is worth it and it will be redeemed

This has been one of the hardest weeks of my entire life, and despite the fact that it was hard and it is hard and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone, I can see that it was good. It was needed.
Because in the midst of my despair, God was near. It says in Psalms that He is near to the brokenhearted and sometimes the only way to believe it is to live it.

When all else fails, when you feel like you've had the rug pulled out from under you, He is near. He "speaks tenderly to us" in our aching and He claims us as His own. I will always have Him. He will not leave me. He will not forget me. My tears may flow where no one sees but He sees and He redeems. It is in His nature and He cannot change that He is good. Always.

He is good when things are taken and hearts are broken and the world and even your own mind fights against you. He is good and He is near. He will not let you go and He will make it worth it because He is worth it and He is sovereign.

All I do in these words is preach truth to myself because I don't have any answers but Jesus is the answer.

He is grace and He is mercy and He is comfort and He holds you when you can't hold onto Him.

My life may be turbulent but my future is secure because I am His.
My heart may be broken but I have hope for healing because I am His.
My flesh and my scars and my world may wage war against my soul, but I will fight the battles because He has won the war.

So if there is pain and if there is struggle and if there is fear (and we are human so I know there is) He is near. He is fighting for you. He will not let you go and he will not cease to be good.

Keep looking up. Salvation is here.
