- Enough by Kate Connor. If you are or have a teenage girl YOU NEED THIS BOOK. It is what every girl needs to hear. I had the pleasure of meeting this lovely lady, and she's a beautiful individual.
- The Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis. A must read, ASAP. Beautiful Christian themes, beautiful writing, and easy enough for younger kids to follow. I grew up to my dad reading these books to me.
- Till We Have Faces by C.S. Lewis. This is a difficult read, for sure, with some really advanced symbolism and less-than-straightforward allegory, but well worth it. If you're looking for a book to change your world, this is it.
- Anything by Jane Austen. Seriously. There is nothing wrong with reading classics for fun.
- On that note, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte is one of my all-time favorites. READ IT.
- The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin. Yes, it's a children's book. But by gosh it's fun, so just enjoy it, you grown-ups.
- The Twenty-One Balloons by William Pène du Bois. See previous bullet.
- Holes by Louis Sachar. Such a good book. To you guys who say "I've seen the movie; I don't need to read the book." Just stop. Don't do that. This one's another easy read but I've read it like, six times, so it's worth it.
- Matched trilogy by Ally Condie. One of my favorite takes on the "dystopian" genre, it'll keep you guessing (and interested) the whole time.
- The Maze Runner series by James Dashner. Talk about a book that'll keep you on your toes. Good read especially for people who want a book to grab them and make them finish it.
- The Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. (I'm including Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Heroes of Olympus.) One of my all-time favorite series. Funny, entertaining, complex, and easy-to-read.
- Little Women and Little Men by Louisa May Alcott. A lot of wisdom here. Beautiful example of differing personalities and striving for godly self-improvement.
- Hamlet by Shakespeare. I'm not the biggest Shakespeare fan (sue me), but Hamlet himself is so intriguing that I couldn't help but love this one. The Twelfth Night is another good one.
- A Severe Mercy by Sheldon Vanauken. This one's a life-changer, people. Real, true, authentic faith even in tragedy. This man knew the joy of Christ.
- There will definitely be others added to this list so I'll leave this bullet here. I have no idea why everything is highlighted so forgive me. I'm too busy reading to keep up with 21st century technology.
It's kind of a long story. "If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world."-C.S.Lewis
Looking for a page-turner?
I write about books so often that I figured I ought to share some recommendations. (Now you don't have to read me rambling about them all the time! Maybe. Yeah, probably not.) This list isn't in any particular order, so enjoy and get to reading!
