Meet Daphine

Hi, friends! This beautiful little girl is 10-year-old Daphine, an orphan living in Uganda, and I've recently sponsored her through Compassion International. I've "officially" been a Compassion blogger for about a year now (hence the banners on the side of my blog), but was unable to sponsor until I could get a job. I've been waiting for this moment, and now that it's here, I've gotta share.

Compassion is so important. Through them, I get to help Daphine get proper schooling, Bible studies, health screenings, sports, church activities, choir, and seminars for her guardians (she lives with her grandmother and aunt). Because of Compassion, she and her 5 siblings will have a place to go where they will be loved and taught about Christ.  Not only that, but because of my sponsorship, I get to write letters to her and receive letters from her. I get the chance to personally encourage a little girl halfway around the world, and, from what I've read from other Compassion Bloggers, the impact she'll have on me will be just as great.

What's stopping you? I know what stopped me for a long time. Time, finances, etc. But the minute you push all those aside to get out of yourself, you'll never be the same.
And if you really can't give, which was me for a long time, pray. Pray that kids will hear the Gospel. Pray that they'll receive the healthcare they need to live until they're able to hear it. Pray for the staff at Compassion. Pray for all the people who are unreached.

If there's one thing I learned from my Italy trip it's that people aren't as different as they seem. They're all beautiful. They are all made and loved by their Creator and if that's not reason enough to long to embrace our brothers and sisters in need then I don't know what is.
